I used Elkhound for training my 2 puppy chihuahuas. They were 4 months old. A big taking on I feel. Puppies.... They came home knowing everything they said they would! It was a little hard imagining them obeying but they do. That being said, they train them. But the owner has to learn too. They have spent several hours with me post training to make sure everyone (me and the dogs) are getting it and that they will obey for me like they did for them. They have a lead trainer - Bill. Love Bill. He's passionate about his job. He also uses other staff to train so that they learn from several voices and people, which makes it easier for the dogs to then take commands from the owner. This facility is very hands on and very much involved in the care after your pet leaves. It's definitely NOT a situation of 'they are trained, here they are, see you later'. The staff loved and snuggled my babies. Right now they are running a special, which is very much worth it. I know it sounds expensive.... but you won't be disappointed. They also offer 5 day care days with the purchase! Give them a call. Josh and his team take very good care of your precious pet.

We searched reviews and pricing for many places for our coonhound puppy (4months old). At first we were simply going to board her while we were out of town for a wedding. The amount of energy she had at home around our young son was insane and getting to be a bit too much unchecked. We sent our dog Mabel to elkhound ranch and sprung for 2 weeks of board and training as well. Hands down the best value for service we could ever have hoped for! The staff were great the facilities are ideal for your pet (yes it’s out there a little from where we live, south of KC) but that’s probably why the facilities are better than your strip mall training center facility which by the way are typically much more expensive for fewer days). Our dog has been back less than a week, She’s calmer, she is very smart and understands everything she has learnt, she is much better around our 2.5 year old son (Mabel’s a 55 lb dog so that was important to us) She takes direction she is great in a leash. I will be sending both of my dogs here next year. I recommend you give elkhound a shot if you have multiple places recommended! Our trainer Bill - he really knows his dogs stuff! I genuinely couldn’t not be happier! Worth every dollar! Thank you all at Elkhound Ranch we will see you next year!

I did a 2 week board and train for my 12 week old Bernese Mountain Dog Poodle Mix and it was amazing. I got videos of all the progress she was making on her training. When I went to pick Penny up all of the staff were incredible and I was extremely impressed by Penny’s training progress in only 2 weeks. When we were getting ready to leave the Trainer was genuinely sad to say goodbye to my girl and all the staff came out to give her pets and cuddles. I walked away knowing that she was truly taken care of and loved. We are a couple weeks out from when she left and I’m still impressed everyday by how obedient she is for a puppy with boundless energy. We will definitely be booking here again!
