Please allow 10-15 minutes for the check-in process. We always like to make certain that we have all customer and pet details correct before you leave the premises. In addition, if you are able to visit your online customer portal prior to your arrival, you will be able to read and sign all correct documentation before your arrival. This can drastically speed up the check-in process.

Pets that are not picked up by the 3:00PM check-out time will incur a $40/pet late fee. Pets that are not picked up by close of business will incur another night of boarding fees. In addition, we understand that customers are excited to see their pets and may wish to pick them up as soon as possible; however, please be advised that our office is closed to pick-ups and drop-offs except during our posted business hours.

In the event that your pet(s) require(s) veterinary care, the Ranch Team will first attempt to contact you and your Emergency Contact. You or your Emergency Contact will need to check-out your pet(s) from our care. Payment is due in full upon check-out.
If you or your Emergency Contact are unavailable, Elkhound Ranch Kennels reserves the right to seek veterinary care for your pet(s). We may seek to utilize your veterinarian on file or we may use our neighboring affiliate veterinarians pending their appointment schedule. Dr. Kovac with Northland Mobile Veterinary Clinic administers our Program of Vet Care and we are closely affiliated with other local veterinarians. North Oak Animal Hospital is our preferred, after hours, emergency care center.
Should it be necessary that we visit an off-site veterinarian, a transportation fee of $50 may be applicable. In addition, an off-site care fee of $50/hour may apply if our staff must remain at the veterinarian's office during the exam.
If veterinary care or medical treatment is required and you or your Emergency Contact is not able to make payment arrangements with the care provider, Elkhound Ranch may make these payments on your behalf. These charges may be added to your Elkhound Account and be due and payable upon the date of service.

Our intent will always be to keep you and your Emergency Contact involved with every decision pertaining to the health and safety of your pet(s). All pets that are altered or unaltered may utilize our services. However, only altered dogs are allowed to join any form of Group/Pack Playtime. This includes our doggie daycare and our optional play groups for boarding guests.
Unaltered Male Dogs that are under six months of age ARE allowed to play within our doggie daycare and our optional play groups for boarding guests. Unaltered Female Dogs that are under six months of age ARE NOT allowed to participate in any of our play groups as these groups may have Unaltered Males within each group. In addition, females may come into heat as early as four months of age. We do not offer any play groups for cats.

Grooming appointments that are not attached to a boarding reservation are considered to be walk-in appointments. Walk-in appointments may be scheduled to checked in between the hours listed above. However, Elkhound would prefer that most check-ins occur between 8:00AM-10:00AM.

Scheduled appointments will be completed by 4:00PM, however, your pet can be scheduled to be picked up anytime prior to our 6:00PM closing time. In addition, we prefer to call you upon completion of grooming activities to ensure that your pet is finished prior to your return and check-out.

The hours listed above are indeed the hours that our facility is open to the general public. However, for dog training customers, Elkhound's Training Director will schedule a specific appointment with you to ensure proper communication. A scheduled appointment will be initiated so that you are able to meet with our Sr. Trainer for a professional Intro Session and Exit Interview.

Training Delay
In the event that your dog's training is paused or placed on hold due veterinary treatment or any other reason, Elkhound Ranch reserves the right to start the training course over in its entirety. More than two days of missed training my constitute a rescheduled Exit Interview. Additional Fees may apply.

All pets are given a brief pre-entry screening upon arrival. Please inform all personnel that are performing intake of your pet of all pre-existing health conditions. If your pet has been acting different or off, most recently, please inform our staff. Failure to inform us of such conditions may not allow Elkhound Ranch the opportunity to provide additional necessary care. Discovery of Fleas or Ticks will require a mandatory, pre-entry Flea & Tick bath prior to kennel entry. The pre-entry screening performed by our staff is superficial only and is not intended to replace a physical exam, performed by a licensed veterinarian or imply medical judgment.
All dogs are required to have current vaccinations for Rabies, Distemper and Bordetella (kennel cough). These vaccinations must be administered no later than 3 days prior to check-in. Puppies under 4 months of age do not require a Rabies vaccination, however, they are required to have the Bordetella vaccination and at least one round of Canine Distemper vaccination.
All cats are required to have current vaccinations for feline Rabies and Distemper. These vaccines must be administered no later than 3 days prior to check-in.
Failure to provide the current vaccinations listed above will result in your pet not being admitted into our facility for all services. We often send out vaccination expiration reminders, however, it is the pet owners responsibility to ensure that Elkhound Ranch indeed has your pet's most recent vaccination records on file. Therefore, to eliminate all miscommunication with pet owners, veterinarians and Elkhound Ranch, it is highly recommended that you always have your pet's vaccination records on your person at the time of check-in.
We understand the importance of giving your pet a sense of comfort and security during their stay at Elkhound Ranch Kennels. For the sake of safety and cleanliness, we request that personal articles (i.e. beds, blankets, toys) be left at home. All food storage items must be dishwasher safe and clearly marked with your pet’s first and last name. No cloth items will be allowed. Elkhound Ranch Kennels is not responsible for the loss or damage of any personal items.
Bedding is provided for all our canine and feline guests. For sanitation purposes we kindly ask that you leave your pet’s usual bedding at home.
Soft bedding
Dispensing of medications or special diets twice a day
Elkhound Ranch will provide complimentary meals to each guest upon request. We serve a Beef and Rice, dry kibble from Diamond Naturals.
The Ranch Team understands that you may wish to provide your own special diet for your pet. All food must be stored in an air-tight container. Therefore, we ask that all dry food be brought to us in a bag or bags that are capable of being stored in an 8"x18"x24" hard, plastic storage container. Bag or bags must be labeled with your pet's first and last name. Unopened canned food will also be stored in these containers. All cans must be labeled with your pets first and last name. Opened cans will be stored in our refrigerator.
We do have limited refrigerator and freezer space. Therefore, we ask that you bring no more than a 1 week supply of Raw Diet should this be your preferred pet diet. Your restocking friends may be able to assist you if your stay is longer. In addition, if your stay is longer than 1 week and you feed a Raw Diet, please discuss our options with the Ranch Team. Food and Water bowls are not allowed. We do make exceptions If your pet requires the use of a slow-feeder bowl. Otherwise, all pets will utilize our stainless steel food and water bowls.
If providing your own storage container, please utilize ONLY an 8"x18"x24" hard, plastic container. This is the only size that will fit our storage racks. Label the Lid and Container with a large label that indicates "Owner Container - First & Last Name".
Food distribution will occur one to two times per day pending your instructions. The food is distributed in the morning and evening, however, it will not be removed from their kennel unless we are instructed to do so.

Reservations are always recommended and highly encouraged during peak travel season. Non-refundable deposits may be required to hold your accommodations during high occupancy periods. Cancellations made 4 weeks prior to your arrival date will be fully refundable.
The Ranch Team does make every effort to keep all pets assigned to their original accommodations. However, Elkhound Ranch Kennels reserves the right to change your pet accommodations due to Pet Health and Safety concerns. Reasons may include but are not limited to, temperament of your pet or others, health concerns or high occupancy levels resulting in safety concerns. Lesser valued kennel accommodations will always be credited to the customer and upgraded accommodations will be complimentary unless the change was requested by the customer. Appropriate spacing regulations are always met.
We accept cash, all forms of major credit/debit cards, and Apple Pay.
All boarding accommodations will require a minimum payment of 50% of the entire customer balance due at the time of check-in. Customers may pay the remaining balance during check-out.
A non-refundable deposit of 3X our standard boarding rate, per pet will be required upon booking a boarding that extends through our designated holidays and holiday closures. The remaining balance shall be paid in full at the time of check-out.
A non-refundable deposit of 20% of the total cost of any ordered training program will be due at the time of booking. The remaining payment shall be paid in full upon check-in or at the time of the first session. We do not offer financing currently.
Should your Elkhound Ranch Account have a remaining credit or should Elkhound Ranch provide you a credit for services, credits will remain for one year and will then be removed from your account. All account debts should be paid in full at the time of service.
Return Policy: All sales are Final. Daycare Packages may be exchanged for Store Credit. Non-Attendance of a Final Exit Interview pertaining to any of our Training Programs shall deem the customer having satisfied acceptance of the product. All completed and accepted Graduations from our Training Program are Non Refundable. Common Colds do not constitute Elkhound Ranch refunding medicine or medical treatment bills.
